How to Measure Glucose Spikes
Insulin is the hormone produced by the pancreas that helps to regulate blood sugar or blood glucose. After you eat a meal, the blood sugar starts to go up because the food is being metabolized and turned into glucose. insulin gets released and that helps to push the glucose into the cells to lower the blood sugar back down again. Insulin resistance means your pancreas becomes less effective at moving the glucose out of the bloodstream and into the cells. So clearly, if you're insulin resistant, it's going to take longer to get that sugar into the cell out of the blood which can move you towards pre-diabetic or diabetic state.
