The Importance of Sustainability in Bangladesh's Clothing Industry
Legislation could lead to large brands taking more responsibility for environmental footprint of suppliers they use. Many factories that are already going green are playing smart by working with manufacturers who can deliver on these demands. At Faris knitting and dying there are plans to introduce zero discharge dying by the end of the year. Solar power would cost in a company like ours perhaps maybe two to three cents on a piece of garment. There is possibility of using recycled fabric and converting it into fiber, making that into yarn and then putting that back into the garment. Zero discharge dying is something which I believe all manufacturers eventually have to do.
