The telescope has an array of massive, highly polished mirrors that will collect light and direct it to the telescope's censors. The sensitivity of the telescope should allow astronomers an unprecedented look at celestial bodies. There was a move to push nassau to rename the telescope. It's named after james e webb, who served as the second administrator of nassau.
