The Importance of Customer Facearing in DevOps

Stack Overflow has a famous story about when Hurricane Sandy came to New York and people were walking up and down stairs, bailing out buckets of water so that they could make sure Stack Overflow's servers didn't go on the fritz. It was mostly because I felt like I've been doing this work for such a long time. So having this kind of perspective of working on the other side where I'm building the features is definitely something that I would recommend anyone that is working in operations to do it every once in a while.
