The Transition From Sex to Discourse

Foucault is interested in the way that it kind of entered the realm of discourse. He says sex as a natural thing was transformed into discourse so we could you know problematize this a little bit and ask like okay well to what extent does sex actually exist outside of discourse? I don't believe he uses the term natural but he's just kind of saying that it's a thing from whatever it is to discourse where for my own from my own academic training I'd be a little bit reticent to assume that anything can necessarily exist outside of discourse.
