The Philosopher's Ideal Is Strength of the Will, Hardness of the Will
He describes the philosopher on account of his creation of the new as someone who is essentially untimely set against his own age. It's just this opposition that gives the genuine philosopher the insight he needs for his wisdom. And so without further ado, section two, 12 quote: "More and more, it seems to me that the philosopher being of necessity, a man of tomorrow and the day after tomorrow has always found himself"
