The Coercion of Workers in the United States
The H1N1 visa allowed workers from Jamaica to work in the United States. The company that employed them was owned by two brothers who fled Cuba when Fidel Castro took over their family's business. They were threatened with deportation if they didn't perform well, so many went back again and again despite knowing what they were getting into. "It appears as though the payment system was purposely obtuse," says CNN's John Sutter.
