The Power of ETFs in the Market

ETFs account for only single digits of trading volume in the U.S., according to a recent study. But when an ETF is well established and has a lot of natural liquidity, you see that natural liquidity buyers and sellers create a market. That's where you can see some real compression in the bidar spread. It also means that the underlying basket of stocks within that Index doesn't need to be traded because effectively that underlying basket is just being passed from one investor to another.
