Baptism and the Law of Commandments

Baptism is the means by which we leave old solidarities behind and are joined to a new one. We should consider the parallel passage in ephesians, chapter two, verses 11 16. Gentile christians were formerly dead in their sins and outside of the covenant people of god. Yet god made them alive together with christ, forgiving them all the sins that separated them from him. He achieved this through the cross. The impasse represented by the law is decisively dealt with as jesus takes its burden upon himself in his cross.
