How to Be a Dietary Aide at an Assisted Living Facility

I'm a 17 year old girl who just graduated high school and is pursuing an associate's degree in pre-med at a local college before moving away to university. I've been working at this facility for around a year now and I've grown to really know pretty much all of my residents. One of these residents is Mary, who is mostly deaf and who lives there with her three sisters. When I first started working there, Mary and I didn't really talk much or anything beyond me bringing her drinks and taking her order. However, I knew that she was lonely due to the communication barrier between her and others, so I attempted to reach out to her a little bit.
