I'm very inspired by people that just like invented a career. Like they just literally came up with it. A really interesting example of this would be like Gorn who, you know, the blogger who as far as I understand, he just spent this time researching and writing amazing blog posts. And it's supported by his readers who love his work. So it's sort of a like one example of how to get into something is like just start doing it. Then see if you can get somebody to pay you for it later.

Arden Koehler is a researcher and writer at 80,000 Hours, a nonprofit whose mission is to help people use their careers to help solve the world's most pressing problems, and an active member of the effective altruism community. Arden has a PhD in philosophy from New York University, with a specialisation in ethics and attitudes toward time, and a B.A. in philosophy from University of California, Berkeley.
