The Importance of Babel in Genesis 11
The word Babel translate Genesis 11 is Babel. So what that does is that hides from most English readers the fact that this is Babylon. If Genesis 11 had been translated Babylon, we wouldn't be having this conversation trying to help people understand that it's the same word. There are many of English words or phrases that have entered English through the early English, Tyndale and King James translations that wouldn't be in English except for the Babel.
