The Wages for Housework
Leopoldina was a member of an italian marxist feminist group called lotta feministe, or feminist struggle. They argued that the state should pay women a wage for the work they were doing at home. Men and women could not go out and work if did not. In 19 72, feminists from the u k, the us, canada and germany met in italy to discuss the idea. It took off, and the wages for housework campaigners even made it on to the b b c later that decade.
