Cognitive Aging and Dementia at Columbia University

As the cohort aged, we became more and more interested in cognitive aging and dementia. In recent years, we have been looking at inflammatory and infectious mechanisms and their role in cognitive decline and aging. One of our junior faculty who has been rising very quickly is Jose Gutierrez,. He initially trained at his residency at University of Miami when Ralph was chair there and then came to Columbia to work with us. So he has now become the leader of the Northern Manhattan study at Columbia.
