What Herschel Was Trying to Do in Astronomy

William herschel was the first woman to earn a salary as an astronomer. He discovered that light from very distant systems may have taken two million years to reach him. Carlin, his legacy is she was the first women to discover a comet. She went on to discover eight comets and became one of the first female astronomers in Europe.
