Otis Never Heard the Seagulls, and Never He Heard the Waves
Otis Reading died in a plane crash three days after recording Vampon. The Bar-Kays were on tour with Buddy Holly when their plane crashed into Lake Manona, four miles from its destination. Only survivor of the crash was trumpet player Ben Corley who had fallen asleep clutching his seat cushion as he tried to keep himself afloat.
