Aquinas 101 - Course 3: God and Creation

CHAPTER

The Catholic Doctrine of Predestination and Reprobation

If salvation occurs by grace alone but if human beings are also capable of freely refusing this grace then the Catholic Church is right to claim a non-parallelism in her perennial doctrine of predestination and reprobation. What you lose to your own perdition you lose due to your own initiative which God allows you to do out of his love and respect for your freedom. Here also is our greatest hope that God's transcendent love is ever greater than our hearts and can sustain our freedom to love in continual being. He will give us the grace to repent pray and persevere so long as we should place no obstacle in his way.
