The Australian Government's Stand on Repatriation of Islamic State Brides in Syria

Mary M was nine months pregnant with her second child when she left Australia for Syria. After trying to escape, she was forced to remarry. She had her third child with her new husband, but he was killed fighting too. The government has remained firm in its stance on bringing home the 20 women and 46 children from a detention camp in North East Syria. Officers from the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation secretly travelled to Syria to make sure it was safe after Antony al-Bainese became prime minister. 16 women are expected to face court for the purposes of making a terrorism control order. They have all agreed to submit to the order.
