Rutherford Picks Nature Because It's Fast

i love the rutherford story, because he doesn't choose nature because he sees it is prestigeos necessarily. He picks nature because it's fast. Rutherford also really wants his papers to be read by the right sort of people. And so publishing in science or publishing in a canadian journal doesn't really seem to have occurred to him. But you're absolutely right about the national orientation a you could imaginerutherford saying, ok, i have to get my stuff into print as quickly as possible. I'm going to publish it on this side of the atlantic,. maybe a science which is published in new york, maybe in a canCanadian ral.
