The Kingdom of Lao, or Laos, was supposed to be a neutral country. But this Southeast Asian nation shares a 2,000 kilometre border with Vietnam. By the mid-1960s, there were tens of thousands of North Vietnamese soldiers fighting here. Of 270 million fussed munitions dropped as part of the bombing campaign, an estimated 30% failed detonate.
