The History of Climbing
From falconry I got into climbing with some climbers from the Sierra Club in LA and started climbing that place called Taki's Rock out of LA and then slowly and into Yosemite. At that time all the gear was made in Europe and as the Europeans had an attitude towards climbing where you conquer the mountainsyou know and you make them safer for the next for the next group. So we didn't want to leave any trace behind and so we made there was an old blacksmith who's a climber in Yosemite is John Salatie and he made pitons out of Model A Fort axles which is really good steel instead of iron because um and Yosemite is a lot of incipient cracks
