Environmental economist julia steinberger says the fossil field industry does this too. When oil and gas prices slumped at the start of the pendemic, because people weren't travelling and demand went down, the industry said, the government must prop us up. And now they're pushing this story that gas prices are up because of president biden's environmental policies - when in reality, Prices are up because us. A lot of progressives have started to call for nationalizing the oil industry. Here's journalist kate arinof explaining what that means and why it might be a good idea.
