The most obvious explanation for why older people are more vulnerable to misinformation is just like biology, right? When they see a piece of information, they're less likely to remember the source. There's studies where they'll show older people footage of other people lying and they're worse at detecting a liar. People also, it appears become more trusting as they get older.
