The Whole Scene Is Against the Artist
"Chicago's a big laugh as far as the arts go. It isn't just the audience, I don't put down Chicago audience," he says. "The whole scene is against the artist in New York City and nobody looks at you, cock-eyed." In order to be really legitimate here, one has to have his lunch wrapped for him or her every day; they won't respect it if she doesn't do that. If you don't go to work, you're a bum in this town - that's all there's to it".
