The Importance of Characters in D&D

I think that this is a tough question for me because I've spent 80% of my time playing these games, running them. So I don't have a whole lot of characters of note, you know. Don't be ashamed on it. Don't feel like your character is less than or you can't create something cool Because everyone starts off with that character that just wants to be a little bit of everything. And then through playing that character, you find out who you are. It's rare that you actually get to sit on the other side of the screen.
