Galileo's Argument That the Earth Is Not at the Center of the Universe
Galileo made a distinction between primary and secondary qualities. Primary quality is mathematical quantity, it's an aspect of a physical body in space. He says that when we turn away these qualities, these secondary qualities become mere names. And so everything that there is is most properly imagined as this physical object,. Everything else kind of comes out of our cognition, out of our experience.
