Victor Gruen and Walt Disney
Walt Disney was inspired by Victor Gruen, the city planner. He decided he needed a bigger canvas than Disneyland in California afforded him. So he got an enormous parcel of land in Central Florida that became Disney World. The center of it was his experimental prototype city of tomorrow, Epcot. Although to get to the periphery of this, you did have to drive. This was his grand vision. He didn't live to see it fulfilled.
