Parliament, the Supreme Authority, the Absolute Authority

Parliament seizes control of militias, and harles himself has to basically retreat into a part of the country where he has more support. Parliament puts forward a proposal for a new constitution in which parliament would be recognized as the supreme authority. This was going much further than any one had ever seen in even within england right? So this was a radical idea that supporters of the king really could not accept. And yet it's almost exactly what has actually come about, right? It is more or less what we see as the status quo to day, rigt.
