The House Republicans Don't Have the Will to Address Our Budget Problems
Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Anna Paulina Luna are two of the 20 initial holdouts on a debt limit bill. They say they want to balance the budget over 10 years, but won't get specific about what should be cut. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Thursday that Republicans will not target Medicare or Social Security in their negotiations over the debt ceiling. Donald Trump Sr., who's running for president, says he finds it infuriating that progressives continue to tell the public that Social Security and Medicare are insurance programs from which people only take what they pay in.
