The Difference Between Luther and Thomas and Calvin's Theology

In these senses it seems to me, Thomas broadly agrees with what both Luther and Calvin would say. In both of these cases he puts the emphasis on God as the first mover of human beings toward salvation. That said, there are some important differences and I'd like to underline three for our purposes. First, Thomas denies the doctrine of total depravity. He argues that human beings have some capacity to do good works by nature even if that's not yet sufficient to merit salvation. And you can see from the way that Thomas speaks about this, that he's got a somewhat sunnier view than Calvin and Luther.
