Kawakami has an unusual hobby, which he calls chindogu. Chindogu is a japanese phrase that means a weird, strange tools. Kawakami's inventions were these kind of bizarre prototypes he had been making just for fun. He wasn't prepared to manufacture these and started filling the extra column space with his own mitamate.
