How close do they get? That's a good question. And and especially over the ocean, where there's no building to compare it to, it's like, oh, i've no idea. Recovery of the wreckage took place from august 20 fifth to september third. When they finally did recover the wreckage and the pieces were examined, e investigators found that the rudder and elevator control cables were broken off. The pitch up control cable showed a second failure in the aft part of the airplane with a different appearance than other failures.
