Energy Is Not a Thing, It's a Substance

The government and environmentalist groups are conflating the idea of increased energy consumption with an increase in pollution. Energy itself is not a substance, but you can never substitute for it. All societies have always been energy dependent - Hunter gatherers or hunter-gatherers were just as dependent on energy as we are. We consume a lot of it because we have a very sophisticated and comfortable societies.
