Extracellular Matrix and Alzheimer's Disease Mouse Model Brain
Diseases like ataxia and hypoxia can selectively affect the cerebellum. Extracellular matrix is a mesh of different kinds of proteins that provide structure. It's also a huge factor in delivering growth factors to cells, or keeping certain proteins away from places they shouldn't be. The lack of blood vessels could be a reason why that area is preferentially affected at Alzheimer's disease.
