The Revival of the Methodist Church

When given the chance to preach, Jim would weave themes of racial and economic equality into his sermons. He tried to recruit blacks away from their home churches to come join his small Methodist church. But he ran into as much resistance from his potential black recruits as he did from the people at his white church. Most black Pentecostalists and Baptists were no more interested in turning their Sundays into social experiments than the white Methodist were.
