The Importance of Religious Faith in Combat

In the entire allied armies in the first World War, only one man in nine was killed or died as a result of wounds. Loyalty and responsibility are not strangers to the battlefield and they can overcome fear. Tired, sleepy, hungry men are much more likely to be fearful than men in good physical condition. Anger is probably one of the more damaging emotions. It goes into a battle against fear really quickly because it's so contagious.
