The Different Practices of the Eastern Church in the 11th Century

In the 11th century, there was no emperor in Constantinople as a patriarch and an emperor. The pope therefore had a particular position at Rome in terms of actually governing the city. Johnathan Shabbat: There were also declared differences between the Eastern and the West. They went back to the 9th century and before. And these were not new differences. But they were fault lines, which suddenly became much more clearly apparent.
