Distributed Resources Are Coming Into Their Own

Intermittent wind and solar resources are coming into their own economically and physically. They can be quite localized, like a thunderstorm going across a big solar farm. We don't know how to dispatch those things because they're intermittent; we can't dispatch that way. And so part of what's going to have to happen is a cultural rethinking of the process of operating the grid as the grid becomes more heterogeneous in its resources and in its behavior.
