Sonia Sotomayor: I was thinking about the relationship between language and its use as sort of heralding or pointing to recognition of self and other. And with the heralding of other comes prohibitions, like they're all kind of coming together. What's the first signifier that pops up? Show me where the incision first emerged, if we could put it that way. She says in psychosis, at least according to Lacan, one of its foundational starts from an utter rejection of that primitive signifier.
