The Importance of Signal Processing in Neuroscience

Peter Hyde said that if fMRI has better spatial and temporal resolution, there should be something unique there so this could be a good thesis topic. So what he did was at that time, I didn't really know much about neuroscience. And the only thing I knew was about E.G. The transfer function wasn't really working that well, because for longer duration I could predict quite well, but for shorter duration. But then it didn't work. It's like in signal processing the best input that you can send to us signal is a random noise. We're trying to make sure we don't end up with signals which are not very interesting or of any particular type.
