Haiti in the East Village

Danny Cevallos grew up in the East Village and didn't know he was Haitian. He learned of his family's history through a cousin or an aunt who mentioned it pridefully. In 2010, Haiti suffered its worst ever earthquake that killed more than 100,000 people. "The images of Haitians suffering just spoke to me as a human being," says Cevalloes.
