When I was in my clinical training, I did my clinical training in internal medicine infectious disease at UCSF. So as a clinical training, so I spent a few months in Uganda. And that's when I went there, you know, and learned about this disease,. how impactful and important it is in places like East Africa where it works. The main thrust of our lab is really trying to understand what are the mechanisms by which the immune system actually evolves this capacity to tolerate parasites without symptoms.
