Plants Depend on Fungi
Fungi absorb water and mineral nutrients. They also protect the plant roots from pathagons or in the soil. As a swap for this, they eat the plant ays by giving the fungus sugar. Is no robbery. It's a mutualistic relationship. Vast numbers of plants have these associations with fungi. A second reason is that fungi are the the garbage disposal agents of the natural world. If it wasn't for fungy, we'd be up to our armpits in dead stuff.
