The Evolution of Basketball Rules

The number of fouls called per two point attempt is an indicator that we've tracked for a long time on this show. Last year, it dropped to 16 shooting fouls per every 100 two point shots. This season, it kept going and went to 19. It was at 20 for most of the season. The last time we were under 16 was the 2016 postseason. But you can see how officiating can give the defense just a little bit more of a chance 10 to 15% drop in the overall number.
