Ojibway harvesters hit the lakes in canoes carrying knockers, these traditional harvesting sticks that are used to gently knock the stalks. The rice is roasted and dried, or bagged and sold f the rice to grow properly. "It's one of those fundamental qoer pieces of our identity," tara hauska says.
