Researchers recorded high speed vidios of six woodpeckers from three species. They tracked points on their heads and beaks as they were pecking to work out what was going on. And it stands out, if they're not using shock absorbers, what are they using? The answer is nothing. It comes down to the fact that necumans have very big, quite heavy brains.
