The Side Effects of a Holland Tunnel

In the village, just north a coupleb north of houston street, sixth avenue dead ended there up until the 19 twenties. Here an anticipation for the opening of the holland tunnel. In the 19 twenties, it was widened and then extended down to canal in order to support new traffic heading out of the tunnel. And that extension, iut, would have all kinds of side effects. It would call for the demolition of many, many buildings. They also opened up the street and allowed for the construction of the eighth avenue subway line.
