Shiite imams were often seen as the source of all esoteric knowledge and sciences in the Islamic world. Jabir Asadek is held in high esteem as a teacher by both Shiites and Sunis, albeit for different reasons. The Arabic Muslim philosopher Al-Kindi famously developed the idea of stellar rays as a theory for how magic works in general. This was thought that these stars could be used to look into past events, present events or predict future events.
