The Importance of Secondary Medication for Withdrawal

Most hospitals use morphine, but there's recent studies suggesting both buprenorphine and methadone compared to morphine may reduce a length of treatment. Vanderbilt developed a program about three years ago now for opioid exposed infants where we moved them out of the unit. We've had now about 400 infants greater than 35 weeks who have gone through our program.
