Are the Genealogies of Genesis Five and 11 to Be Taken Literally?

Would you agree that if the chronologies of genesis five and 11 had to definitively be taken literally, that that would then lock us into adam and eve existing somewhere at most, probably about 75 hundred or eight thousand years ago? Well, there's a question about what we manby literally. The literal interpretation is the whatever the sacred author intended to communicate. So we'd have to first settle what gene is the author of genesis writing. But but if we took those genealogies literalistically, then, yes, sure, it would point to adam and eve living a few thousand years ago.
